Julius Steinberg, a Jewish immigrant from eastern Europe was a prominent figure in the Jewish community and business world of Traverse City for more than two decades, with his work establishing a Jewish community, his popular dry goods store and his construction of Steinberg’s Grand Opera House on Front Street. This collection includes documents relating to the construction of the Grand Opera House, business correspondences and documents, fraternity membership documents, and personal correspondences.

The collection consists primarily of business correspondences, financial documents, receipts, invoices, personal correspondences, and construction related documents. Many documents are fragments, as they are missing pages or have torn pages. All items are digitized.
